To the south-east of Corrin lays Kaysan, a religiously fuelled empire that seems intent on Corrin’s ruin. They are led by the zealot like Priors and the Hidalgo, the Pure Blooded. The Kaysani are an inspired people, ambitious and intelligent. They believe Corrin is their ancestral land and they’re on their way to getting it back, la reconquista, as it is called.
The Kaysani have no use for arcane magic, deeming it heretic. In truth, they wouldn’t be able to use magic even if they wished. Those of Kaysan stock lack the needed genes to use the arcane arts. With those genes missing, they are also particular resistant to the arcane. The Priors have always preached this as a boon from the Life-Water, another sign that they are chosen above the non-believers.
The people are also fragmented by different sects, who interpret their confusing religion differently. The only underlying theme scholars from Corrin have pieced together is the Life-Water and their reverence to amphibians. Kaysani prisoners also speak of a large body of water beyond Kaysan’s land called ‘the ocean’ and that it holds some importance to their religion.
